Indian benchmark indices closed significantly higher on Friday, with the Sensex rising 800.52 points (0.98%) to 82,456.32 and the Nifty 50 gaining 240.15 points (0.95%) to end at 25,189.45, driven by strong buying in banking, financial and IT stocks.
Analysts attributed the rally to positive global cues, easing crude oil prices, and continued foreign institutional inflows. The broader markets also gained strength, with the Nifty Midcap 100 rising 1.2% and the Nifty Smallcap 100 gaining 1.4%.
